THE WULL

Pavilion

Project Brief: This pavilion strives to reminisce and educate its visitors of the existing trade that does not seem to exist anymore in Coventry; wool, cloth, and silk. The structure imitates the motion of weaving when sewing, this is nostalgic as it symbolizes the hard work of the weavers late 13th Century and early 17th Century and how machines have helped to replace the idea of manually doing things such as sewing yourself. Our structure must be interactive and movable for its visitors to be more involved in the structure, almost like they are re-living the past.

The Full Story

The pavilion is designed to embrace its organic aesthetics, where the curves wrap around one another. The hooks are inserted in each curve to allow visitors to create different shapes and spaces using ropes. The activity will also remind them about the fabric production land that Coventry was once known for
